How long before British shorthair kittens can be taken from a mother cat?

In the best conditions,Both the cat and the kitten kept i  the right place ;  10 - 14 weeks is best time if you want to take the kitten away from the cat. If you have a British shorthair and want to keep one or more of her kittens,(my twins did this, they each kept one) they kept track of the kittens when mama would go out to hunt. Well she must have smelled them getting to close to her babies, so she moved them. By that time they were about four weeks old, we thought. So to the store to buy kitten formula and then, the twins lined my tub with news paper and blankets and brought them in! Every 3–4 hours they ate, using one of my diabetic syringes! Slowly they started exploring and in about four weeks they were on regular wet food mixed with dry food. They were climbing in and out of the tub and using the cat litter with the other cats. So I said everybody watch where you step, cuz they were little, but way too playful to stay in my tub! Besides, I wanted a nice warm bath after having to supervise the feedings! So they obliged and each kitten went to it’s owners bedroom. My son still has his Big Black cat! I ended up with my daughter’s Roo-Roo cat who is white and tabby. She lost her very first cat to cancer and finally replaced her with a pure white one, Luna. Well Roo did Not like that so he came in my room, and stayed. When she moved out she was going to take Roo to the pound, she had two other cats, so I told her no I will keep him! And he has been with me ever since! They(Big Black and Roo-Roo) are both inside cats, and 12 years old.

Make sure the kitten has already adapted in using the litter pan before you remove him/her from mother. Every kitten would adapt to using the litter pan separately and at different times so make sure to be patient, some might be fast while others would take up longer times .But research tells us it would be later than 13 weeks.
Make sure to introduce the new owners scent. british shorthair have a very strong scenting senses and wold learn alot to adopt with their scent senses, they would recognise their mother, aswell as other litters by smell. When introducing the kitten to the new owner, make sure to provide an old clothing of the owner , place it next to the kitten or in the kittens litter box or next to the kittens favorite spot for couple of days or weeks. By doong so, the kitten with get familiar with the scent of the new owner so by the time the kitten moves to the new owners home he/she would already be familiar within the new owner, This method is called the scent intoductio method.

introducing the kitten with a pet already in the house. all you need to do is provide with the pets bedding with the pets smell already on it. Doing this would already create a safe and sound environment for both kitten and the other pet in  time for when you bring in your new kitten
